Clothes are so expensive yet when new styles come along we change our wardrobes wheather we can afford it or not. Why is it we don't stay with clothes we are comfortable with? Plus paid for. The ladies on the new programs really can't wear that youthful style of the uneven cut yet they change their look and its not for the better.

Because in this society whatever is on TV must be cool. and status has meant a lot ever since the 1400s, i think. So, whatever is cool is whatever's on TV. i mean we get new electronics too! because movie stars have them!

Most teenagers need to be fit in and feel that they're accepted by their peers.

Anyways, I don't waste $$ on trend clothing, ect...I buy what I like, not what everyone likes or is wearing.

Because we get bored and are always looking to stay in style (keeps us youthful) and fashion is fun, even if it doesn't mean anything.

There are ways to wear new trends and styles and still be "age-appropriate." The best thing to do is to have a bunch of classics and fill in with a couple trendy things that fit and flatter, and update colors that look nice on you that season.

And if you can't afford the updates that year, stay with the classic stuff and only replace what's worn out! Although places like Target make it a lot more affordable.

Society's obsession with consumerism and need to spend money on unimportant luxuries, and it seems now, clothing is somewhat of a "status symbol" The more expensive purse you have, the better you look. I like clothing just as much as the next person, but i'm not going to blow hundreds of dollars on a bag or a dress just so I can feel more important. I feel fine about myself without all that stuff.

Because people want to fit in. Even the nerds have a sort of style or thing. It tell you that you are normal or you aren't. Some people it makes them feel they have power others it makes you know their place in the food chain. I don't like fashion or popularity so I can't speak for every one but I can say I don't have good experience with it.
